Italian Futurism begins a reflection on the museum, the archive, and the library right from the lines of its Manifesto. Among the first demands of Futurism is the necessity of breaking with the past, even when the past pertains to the Movement itself: “The oldest among us are thirty years old; we thus have at least a decade left to complete our work. When we turn forty, let other, younger and more capable men throw us into the trash, like useless manuscripts. We desire this!”
"Futurismo triste" (Sad Futurism) is a display case for the Futurist Manifesto. It is both a betrayal and an attempt to imagine a relationship between the past, the present, and what remains of the futurible.

Il Futurismo, pur rifiutandone i modelli, inizia un ragionamento sul museo, l’archivio e la biblioteca sin dalle righe del proprio Manifesto. Tra le prime disposizioni del Futurismo c’è la necessità di chiudere con il passato, persino quando il passato riguarderà lo stesso Movimento: “I più anziani fra noi, hanno trent’anni: ci rimane dunque almeno un decennio, per compier l’opera nostra. Quando avremo quarant’anni, altri uomini più giovani e più validi di noi, ci gettino pure nel cestino, come manoscritti inutili. Noi lo desideriamo!”
Futurismo triste è una teca per il Manifesto del Futurismo. È un tradimento ma anche un tentativo di immaginare un rapporto tra passato, presente e ciò che resta di futuribile.
